Group E-Mail List

New writers attending the Wednesday meetings of Nebraska Writers Workshop can give their e-mail address to one of the Group E-Mail List Moderators.  The new person will receive an invitation to the Yahoo list and must respond to automatically be added.  This does not require a FREE Yahoo Groups sign-up BUT to have access to the List's "Files" of documents of interest and to read past postings, one must sign up on the Yahoo Groups.

Peer Partners

Quarterly, NWW members can sign up for a Peer Partner to critique 1:1 or just provide support to one another.  Some partners exchange pages as available, partials or even complete manuscripts.  Others establish a "reporting schedule," a sort of challenge to maintain a writing routine of a designated number of pages or word count.  Some people just need someone to share their writing woes and "life" interruptions to their writing goals.  The exchanges and critiquing can be done face-to-face outside the group meetings or off the group list in private e-mails.  The partners decide their own expectations, parameters and schedules.  At the beginning of each quarter partners can opt for new assignments to give diversity to the process or opt to stay with the current partner.  Sally takes the names of interested people and tries to honor requests while matching up similar interests.

FREE Teen Mentoring

Enthusiastic teen writers (ages 13-18) are invited to come to the Baright Library Meeting Room on Wednesdays from 5-6 pm for free creative writing instruction in subjects of their choice.  Programs have been offered in Poetry, Screenwriting and Fiction.  The teens are asked to commit to a four week session to allow for coordinated subject presentation. They can call Sally at 592-1597 to register.

October Weekend Writer's Retreat

NWW plans for a Friday-evening-through-Sunday-afternoon annual writers retreat every October at Mahoney State Park (between Omaha and Lincoln).  Two cabins (one for the males and one for the females) and a meeting room are rented and the expenses shared between those who register.  Laid-back writing challenges are planned as well as informal critiquing and socializing.  Only active NWW members may sign up.

NWW 911

For people whose schedules prevent them from attending the regular NWW Wednesday evening meetings, a CRITIQUE ONLY group of NWW writers meets Wedneday mornings from 9-11 am at Petrow's Restuarant, 60th & Center.
